Instagram is working on letting you save drafts of your Story
While Snapchat pioneered the concept of stories, Instagram later came up with its own version and actually managed to beat Snapchat at its own game. Today, 500 million people use Instagram Stories every day, and this number will only increase. Instagram has added many features to Stories, including GIFs, stickers, background music, and more. But this is the thing about stories: if you want to create one and post it later, you have to hit the "Save" button, which saves the entire story as a single image, missing things like mentions, stickers, music, and more. Now, however, a proper writing feature is coming to Instagram Stories.

This functionality was confirmed by Adam Mosseri himself, the head of Instagram, on Twitter. Still, Alessandro Paluzzi also got his hands on some screenshots of the feature in action and shared them on Twitter as well. It's as simple as you probably imagine: when you create a story and exit it, you'll be greeted with a "Save Draft" button alongside the "Delete" and "Cancel" buttons that you probably already know. . Tapping it will store everything you were doing in a Drafts folder, which you can retrieve at any time from the stories menu. It's that easy.
While most people use their stories to share quick photos as highlights of their day or to share posts, the use of stories has grown tremendously as a slightly more sophisticated content sharing tool, especially if you are a business or someone with a lot of followers. Tools like Facebook Creator Studio support Instagram posts and integrate writing and scheduling. For these people (and many people, in fact), managing draft stories directly from the app is really helpful. We are not sure when this will be rolled out to users - in fact, I have tried as I write this and it is not yet available on my device. But we assume it will only be a matter of time before it is available.
