2 Easy Ways To Manage Your Anger

Anger is an emotional feeling and expression that we all have from time to time. Each of us reacts to anger differently. Some people may feel a great urge to break something, some people will yell at the top of their lungs to vent their anger, while others will remain silent the entire time.

Anger can have destructive consequences. Unfortunately, most people do not receive any training or instruction on how to deal with these emotions. As a result, tragedies are often seen on the news or on television about how an angry person has decided to do terrible things to others.

There are many ways to effectively manage your anger, and here are some simple ways you can try:

1. Create a destructive outlet.

I know that many anger management experts would tell you to control your emotions when you are angry, but it is easier said than done and it is not always possible.

My way of coping is to identify a destructive outlet where I can vent my anger without harming anyone or anything. For me, it is a small corner of my room. For you, it could be anywhere in your bathroom, the park. Basically a place where you would feel at peace and spend some time alone.

2. Acknowledge your anger

One thing I have learned from anger management experts is to know when you are angry.

To control your displeasure, the initial step is to recognize it. Just when you distinguish the feeling would you be able to find a way to control it. That makes sense, doesn't it?

To identify your anger, you need to know what things or events make you angry easily. It depends on the individual and you have to explore it on your own.

Let me give you an example. My wife was easily angered when the house was dirty because she loved cleaning. The slightest dirt on the floor will make her furious and she will start yelling and screaming.

Since she identified the cause of her anger, she is now able to deal with it better and no longer starts yelling and yelling.

One last thing I like to add is that anger doesn't have to be bad. It really depends on how people handle it. Learning to identify and overcome your anger will give you an advantage over most people and can also help you in your family and professional life.
